Local Information

The information here will be updated and added to where ever possible.

Noticeboards
There are five noticeboards around the village. Villagers are welcome to put notices on the public boards in Springfield Road, Old School Close, both ends of Thompson Drive and Skimmingdish Lane. The Parish Council will post notice of meetings on all of them, but the minutes of meetings and official Council business will be posted on the Skimmingdish Lane noticeboard.

Grit Bins
There are five grit bins in the village for the use of villagers to keep the public roads safe. These can be found on the corner of Springfield Road and Fringford Road by the noticeboard, on the corner of Thompson Drive and Fringford Road by the noticeboard, on the corner of Old School Close and Fringford Road, opposite the junction to Aunt Em’s Lane on the Fringford Road, and at the Buckingham Road end of Skimmindish Lane. Please note, the grit is not for personal use, but please do use it on the roads to keep the village moving!

Shops
Whilst there are no shops within the village, Southwold has a Tesco Express and take-away outlets, Bure Park has a Co-op store, pharmacy, take-away outlets and a pub, the Bure Farm. There are further shops on the Buckingham Road towards Bicester including a Co-op.

Refuse Collection
The rubbish is collected weekly on a Wednesday in some areas and Tuesday in others (we hope to have a collection map shortly), one week recycling and garden / food waste (blue and brown bins), the alternate week general rubbish (green bins). Cherwell asks that recycling is put in the blue bin loose rather than in bags in order that it can be sorted. More information can be found on Cherwell District Council’s website.

The nearest ‘tip’ for larger items can currently be found at Ardley.
